our trip to denver

This past weekend we flew to Denver, CO for an extended weekend to visit my sister and her family, as well as see Jimmy's aunt, uncle and cousins from Colorado Springs.

We love Denver and every time we visit we leave saying we wish John Deere would move us there :)

We started the trip on Thursday and the kiddos traveled great. We were upgraded to first class because of all Jimmy's miles so that was a nice treat and much appreciated with the kiddos. It gave us lots of extra leg room so Lily spent majority of the trip on the floor reading books - it was perfect! Preston did awesome too, sleeping most of the way and didn't fuss at all. I was a little fearful that the folks around us, that paid the extra bucks for first class, would be annoyed that two little ones were joining them but we found that most everyone was super friendly and enjoyed them.

Once we landed in Denver we picked up our rental car and then headed out to meet up with Jimmy's family for the evening. We met them at the Elephant Bar restaurant, which is downtown Lakewood, and spent quite a few hours just catching up and eating. After dinner we were off to my sister's for the remainder of our trip. We were greeted with big hugs and smiles for two special little nephews and spent a little time chatting and hanging out before calling it a night on Thursday.

Friday we relaxed and let the kids play at their house, took a walk to pick up nephew Asher from school and see where he goes, then let the kiddos take naps in the afternoon and play outside in the awesome weather! before heading downtown for the night. We met up with my brother in law, who works downtown, for dinner at Rock Bottom Brewery - yummy! after dinner walked around a bit, and then of course had to hit up Pink Berry frozen yogurt - so yummy! I told them that was the only thing I wanted to be sure and do while we were there :)

Saturday we spent majority of the morning and early afternoon at their local rec center that has an awesome indoor pool. It's shaped like a pirate ship and is so fun for small kids. Preston even got in on the action and loved floating around. Lily even went down the biggest water slide that had that is a tunnel and goes outside the rec! She was loving it! Saturday night we made homemade pizzas and the kiddos made their own, then they enjoyed a picnic on the floor while we munched on our pizza and sipped some wine!

Sunday we explored the Denver Nature and Science Center. They have season passes which allowed us to tag along for free and it was a fun fun place. They had lots for the little ones to explore, including a discovery zone with all kinds of activities good for little ones their size. Lily really enjoyed all the animal exhibits too while Asher's favorite was definitely the dinosaurs - that little one is quite the smarty pants! After that the kiddos took naps and we packed up to head home :(

We had such a fun time and are so thankful for the time we get to spend in Colorado. We really love visiting and my sister is such a wonderful hostess - making all sorts of yummy food, cleaning the house extra well to help with my allergies, and always having lots of fun options for things to do! We hope to make it out their again in the summer for some rafting and camping!
